Microsoft One Note…

Ahh hah! I finally got MS One Note up and running on my laptop and it IS as cool as I thought it would be. Totally totally cool.

You can take notes, draw, doodle, highlight, handwrite notes if you got a stylus or even with a mouse, search those notes later as you can with a tablet pc, integrate your notes into Office, Outlook, Word, whatever, share notes, and even record audible notes. If THIS were integrated into Radio or MT THAT would be tres cool!

I’m sure I’ll have more comments on One Note but for the moment, I’m in heaven.

In adendum: One more cool thing, it automatically saves your notes so if your laptop shuts down or unexpectedly quits, odds are your notes are safe.

More on MSVDM…

Ok. There’s one thing I don’t like about the MSVDM (Microsoft Virtual Desktop Manager). If you have Internet Explorer open in multiple desktops and you close it in one of the desktops it closes on ALL the desktops. How stupid is that?

On the other side. I am really enjoying using it. I wish they had it for Win2k. It would make staying organized at work easier.

Brokovich still on the job…

Brockovich sues Beverly Hills High.
Erin Brockovich and attorneys filed 25 claims against the city’s school district Monday, alleging that former students of Beverly Hills High School got cancer from being exposed to toxic fumes emitted from an on-campus oil field. [SignOn San Diego]

…I did in fact, see a DeLorean on the street today. And it made me wonder if there’s an aftermarket vendor who’d install a flux capacitor in the back seat - I mean, how can you own a DeLorean and NOT have a flux capacitor? Does anyone see those cars and not wonder if a VW bus loaded with Libyan terrorists is far behind?) [Bleat]

If you’re not reading James Lileks, Bleat you need to ask yourself, why not?

Notebooks of Mass Destruction…

Aye! What is the world coming to!

Notebooks of Mass Destruction
If you order a notebook from Dell, their order form apparently asks you if you want to use it as a weapon of mass destruction, as Gary Turner found out. This is either one of Baldrick’s cunning plans to uncover terrorist cells, or it’s just plain weirdness. Will anybody ever answer this question with “Yes”? And I shudder to think what will happen if somebody actually does. [The Aardvark Speaks]

Number 5 for what???

Hmmm…evidently I’m number 5 in on Google for “Sex in Public Toilets“. Probably closer to the top now that I’ve made this post.

I don’t know whether to be offended or overjoyed.

MSVDM…

So I’ve been playing with the Microsoft PowerToys for WindowsXP and I’ve currently got the MSVDM (Microsoft Virtual Desktop Manager) going. It’s Microsofts odd way of trying to get Linux users. Personally, I don’t think having four desktops in Windows is any better than normal, except I don’t have Internet Explorer trying to consolidate all the windows I have open into one tab.

On this desktop my News Aggregator,on this one the post I’m currently working on, on this desktop I’ve got the window open to the Microsoft site where I pulled the link from and on the last desktop I have nothing.

I guess it’s cool. You get 5 buttons on the taskbar. One for each desktop and one that shows all four so you can choose. One of the other cool things is you can share the applications across all desktops, or not.  You can also choose individual desktop themes and backgrounds to lend a truly unique feel to each.

I’d vote for him…

A picture named greenspun.jpgA bunch of cool stuff today. I went to WGBH to watch Chris Lydon do the last show in his Whole Wide World series. This one was live. I loved it. I took pics. And then we all went out for dinner at Upstairs On The Square in Cambridge. Lots of talk about NH weblogs, and I passed around an idea I’ve been circulating via email (up till now) — drafting Philip Greenspun to run for President of the United States. As I was reading his blog this morning the thought hit me — I’d vote for him — in a second. I’d even work for him. I don’t agree with all of his ideas, some of them are downright wacky (and probably illegal) but he gets you thinking. What’s he got to lose? He’s over 35, and I guess he’s Jewish, but then so is Joe Lieberman. I mentioned this to Chris, he says he knows Lieberman (of course), but he really liked the idea of Greenspun running. Meanwhile Betsy Devine is organizing support for Howard Dean. I said to Chris I want to have a real election next time around. He looked at me, and in his British-American way said “There’s the slogan.” I guess that’s it. [Scripting News]

Hey. I’d vote for Philip Greenspun.

Welcome to therapy…

One thing I have been wondering about…you ever notice how some people treat their blog like it’s a form of psycho therapy? “I’m not blogging anymore. I don’t feel I NEED it.”

Um…excuse me? Did I miss something?

Daily things…

Did you notice that there wasn’t a post for Daily Thing yesterday? Does that mean it’s not a Daily Thing?
