Sea Ice Retreat Largest Ever

September 17th, 2008 admin No comments

NASA released data today showing the extent the arctic sea ice, located over the North Pole, had diminished due to rising global temperatures. The decline in sea ice is the largest since satellites were first used to monitor thec conditions of the worlds ice packs over 20 years ago.

National Snow and Ice Data Center: “On September 12, 2008 sea ice extent dropped to 4.52 million square kilometers (1.74 million square miles). This appears to have been the lowest point of the year, as sea has now begun its annual cycle of growth in response to autumn cooling.

The 2008 minimum is the second-lowest recorded since 1979, and is 2.24 million square kilometers (0.86 million square miles) below the 1979 to 2000 average minimum. “

Page by Page

Going page by page article by article looking for the links that Google says are on my site. I’m not seeing anything. Today Dane went to an online news aggregator in Chrome and the “red page of death” came up about my site. It said the online aggregator site was contaminated because it linked to my site. That’s a bit like saying someone caught the bubonic plague just because they have the same last name as someone who lives in a country where people have been known to get the plague even if they aren’t sick.

Updates Updates Updates

It’s almost impossible to get anything done tonight as every computer in the house is updating. The Windows XP machine is updating Service Pack 3 and a whole bunch of other updates and the Mac just updated to iTunes 8 and Quicktime 7. I thought I was hosed for a while there as XP started up and began going through the registration drill like it was a fresh install again.

He’s Back!

Seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong announced yesterday he is returning to professional bicycle racing for the 2009 circuit, just 4 short years since he retired from professional competition in 2005. Lance has been spending his time in retirement working for his cancer foundation, Live Strong, competing in marathons and doing some off road cycling. Many feel Lance will have a hard time getting back into the groove of professional competition after his 4 year hiatus and may not get a chance to wear the yellow jersey in the 2009 Tour de France.

What’s Up Google?

September 8th, 2008 admin No comments

So Google is still telling everyone my site is dangerous but, in fact, they’re not showing me HOW it’s dangerous. The pages they said were harboring malicious links have been removed and the Google Webmaster Tools page is no longer listing any harmful pages but after requesting a review they said, “The site was found to still be dangerous for users. Please review your site again. When you are confident that you have cleaned and secured your site, please request another review.”

Ok, where? Show me where, please? Don’t say “this site is bad” and not tell me where or how it’s still bad so I can fix it. With thousands of entries over the last 6 years it’s almost impossible to go page by page searching for possibly malicious links.
