Whoppix Makes A Splash On Video

Have you heard of Whoppix? It's a Linux live-cd distribution based on the popular Knoppix cd but slightly altered. This version contains a plethora of tools used to test the strength and security of networks. Whoppix was brought to the limelight about a week ago when Jon Udell posted a link to a series of screen captures in movie form of a person cracking a wep encoded wireless network in under 10 mintues.

Whoppix: "Whoppix is a stand alone penetration testing live cd based on Knoppix. With the latest tools and exploits, it is a must for every penetration tester and security auditor. Whoppix includes Several exploit archives, such as Securityfocus, Packetstorm, SecurityForest and Milw0rm, as well as a wide variety of updated security tools. The new custom kernel also allows for better WIFI support, for tools such as Aireplay.

The 2.7.1 minor release fixes several issues, such as support for Centrino wifi 2100 and 2200 drivers, missing Autoscan, and several new tools."

I think I need to point out that these are tools and should be used responsibly. You should never attempt to crack another persons network as federal and state laws prohibit it.
