RSS 3.0?

Dave Winer posted a brief article on his meeting a few months ago at Microsoft to look at the upcoming project they've been working on and announcing on Friday.

One of the things that caught me when I read the article by Dave was this statement.

Dave: "I want them to relax and give a really great demo on Friday, and know that the OPML Editor will support the very simple extensions to RSS that they are developing, and I look forward to collaborating on further extensions and perhaps even new formats as we go forward."

To me this sounds like they're developing a new standard for RSS and we can expect to see an RSS 3.0 with the Microsoft touch to it.

I'm not going to start screaming. I'm not going to bang my head on my desk. I'll calmly wait until Friday to see what Microsoft has been up to.
