Getting Help From iTunes. It’s easy!

Purchasing music online through Apple’s iTunes Music store is as easy as going to the grocery store but when the checkout clerk rings up an item too many times you point it out to them so they can correct the problem. But what about the iTunes store? What if you get double-charged, can’t download, or a gifted title doesn’t go through? What do you do then? Well visit the iTunes Store Support page of course.

The iTunes Store Support page offers articles and assistance with all your purchases made in iTunes. Wondering how to back up your purchases? Visit iTunes Store Support for answers. Need help resetting your password or with other account information? Visit iTunes Store Support. It’s all there.

“I’m going away. Luv MySQL Server

If anyone has can shed any light into why I keep getting the error, “MySQL server has gone away” while using Movable Type 2.6x please let me know. The posts are still hitting the server and being entered into the database but after pinging the sites and sending trackbacks it throws the error.

Thanks.

A Call for Help

There’s still some time and you could help. A recent fire destroyed the playground and excercise equipment at John J. McFall School. The school, which serves 80 youngsters from ages 3 to 5 with autism and other physical and developmental disabilities, is not sure if/when it will be able to replace the equipment.

“Gone. All gone,” said one 4-year-old student while clutching the hand of teacher’s assistant.

Next Saturday you can help the kids get new equipment and make a difference in the process. Local Manteca California autodealer, Sexton Chevrolet, will give all proceeds from oil changes to the school to help purchase new equipment for the kids. Please help do your part. Manteca is only a short drive over the Altimont from the South Bay and Silicon Valley.

Sexton Chevrolet can be reached by calling (209)824-4800 and (866)973-9866.

If you’re a blogger please repost this on your site. Even if you’re not in the area, some of your readership may be. Thanks.

Good work Phil.

MovableType Installation

CampinGuy.com is down. Yes, it’s down. I decided last night to reinstall MovableType and upgrade to 2.661. I’m not sure if it’s just me but it always seems harder than it should be.

It appears there are things that should be in specific files but never are. I can never find documentation either to which files they should be in. It’s pretty much “Look at the error, move the file.” Maybe it’s the way WinZip uncompresses the file? Maybe I’m just too stupid to be on the internet? I dunno.

It seems the installation instructions haven’t changed but the files they’re referencing have. For example, while installing the SOAP lite module the installation instructions made reference to the files called XML,XMLRPC, and SOAP. Upon reviewing the contents of the zip file I downloaded I was easily able to find the XMLRPC file and the SOAP file but there was no file labeled XML.

So I’ll sit here for a while, installing MT. Working my way through the errors of missing or misplaced files. Moving things around until it works. If someone was to send me a file list of the document tree and what’s in each folder I would be very very grateful.

Updated (5:43am PST)
Ok. I got through most of the file errors now I’m getting this error from MT.pm. Anyone?

Loading initial data into system…

An error occurred while loading data:

Can’t call method “maketext” on an undefined value at MT.pm line 682.

OK. I think I got it. Personally hating WinZip right now BTW. I’ll fix it tonight when I get home. Thanks to anyone who responded to my plea for help.

Update (6:26pm PST): Yup. It’s official. I’m a freakin’ idiot. Since I’m using an older version of WinZip (somewhere around 7 I believe) it doesn’t automatically export zipped archives to files. You first must check the box telling it that’s how you want your archives. DOH! On the other hand, running the demo of WinZip 9 on the laptop. Quite nice. Thinking about upgrading. Encryption looks cool. File management rocks. I like. I like it alot.

Height in EM’s

Can anyone tell me why two divs(columns) in CSS using em’s for the height value move at different rates? Logically, since they’re both based on the same standard they should move equally. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

How do I…?…

Anybody know how I can put track back below the picture in the sidebar over at CampinGuy.com?

Help wanted…

Does anyone out there know how to set up the “Blog this!” function of Newz Crawler? I get about so far and it just seems to hang. Where am I supposed to direct the path for the RPC? I want to use it with Movable Type if that’s a help.
